my grandson has cracked the screen of his i pad can anyone tell me if they know of a cheap and reliable place for repair

Is it out of guarantee? If not contact Apple and see what they say.

If it is out of guarantee there is bound to be a shop near you that does computer or mobile repairs.

Alternatively you can fix it yourself - screen (not the glass or digitiser) went in my iPad (original) so I bought a replacement through ebay and using instructions from internet and video on youtube we fixed it.

If you give an indication of where you are eg. county, then people might be able to recommend repair shops.

If you have a branch of Timpsons near you, try them. They have a sign up in the one inside my local Tesco Superstore that says they can replace screens on Mobiles...shouldn't be too different for tablet computers.
