42" Led Tv

Can anyone recommend a good LED TV for under £500? I don't particularly want a smart tv and it won't be used for gaming. Just need something with a good picture and sound that has built in Freeview.

If you're serious about buying a decent TV with decent aftercare, you'll avoid Argos and Tesco. My choices (and those of Which?) are LG, Samsung and Panasonic and I'd be getting them from Richer Sounds or John Lewis...the latter give a free five-year warranty.

I got a Samsung from Amazon, with excellent picture quality.

None of them have really good sound, because the speakers are tucked round the back. The sound is reasonable, but I invested in a soundbar with subwoofer to improve it.

Agree with Gavmac. Costco is a good place to look if you are a member or can get someone to take you as you get 5 years guarantee I believe.

I`d go for something from the Panasonic Viera range. It would be near your target price but you might get one in the sales.

Samsungs are better on the SmartTV side but their picture motion is poor. That means if you are watching something moving fast on screen you get lag.

I have no experience of using a Panasonic, but when I asked someone who works at Richer Sounds which TV of the dozens they have on, he watches when not busy, he said a Panasonic.
