How do u turn on a computer?

When you press the 'on' button on a laptop, what happens to the button? Does it stick by some kind of magnet that keeps a circuit closed? Is it a relay? Is it mechanical? I can turn my laptop on, but to keep it on, I need to keep my finger on the button. Otherwise it goes straight off. Any ideas? Any threehanded people out there want to buy my laptop?

i am sorry to say but your poor old 'on' button has had its day and with laptops the only thing you can do is to contact the makers or a laptop repairer. as a pc repairer my self this is best advice i can give.
