Morphy Richards Fastbake 48230 Bread Maker Keeps Making A Thumping Noise

I have just got a Morphy Richards Fastbake 48230 Bread Maker as it was mixing the ingredients it was not making any noise but then it started making a noise and when I checked the baking pan was jerking up and down and making a thumping noise, can anyone tell me if the baking pan is meant to be doing this or have I not fitted the pan correctly?

I`m on my second Morphy Richards bread maker. I`m currently using the Fastbake which I purloined from my Mum but my first one used to make a noise when the spindle was turning. It wasn`t a problem - it was just noisy when running in it`s later years. My latest one is quiet because it is fairly new. There are very few parts in them - they are just a spindle/paddle and a heating element. If the pan is properly fitted on it`s base (which I`m suspecting yours wasn`t) and it`s still performing OK then I would just leave it to get on with it.

The pan should not be jumping up and down,I think the pan is fouling the spindle as it turns.

That can`t be happening though because the spindle is attached to the inside of the pan and not the base.

All bread makers work on the same principle, so I would bet yours shouldn't be doing that. Check you are seating the bread pan properly, have another read at the instructions, check for anything loose on the shaft that operates the kneading process. If all that fails, take it back to the supplier and tell them it's faulty.

Mine makes a noise when it is kneading the dough.

I have just bought a Morphy Richards Daily Loaf bread maker, (see my earlier thread about unused kitchen gadgets) the instructions are to turn the baking pan clockwise to lock it into place for baking then turn it anti clockwise to release the pan for cleaning. The dough kneading blade fits a certain way onto the shaft. It sounds as though the pan isn't secure, but when the machine is kneading the dough it does have a small thumping sound.
