Can anyone suggest a free spyware to download. At the moment I have Norton Internet Security, Malewarebytes, and CCleaner, but still manage to acquire lots of tracking cookies when I do a scan. Do I actually need spyware or do I have sufficient cover? - I don't know. Would be grateful for a little advice please. If I do download one would it conflict with Norton?
Would love some advice on this.
You've got everything you need except, possibly, a browser that rejects tracking cookies (even though they're generally harmless anyway and sites like this one rely on them to provide advertising, which pays for their operation, based upon your browsing habits).
With Firefox you simply need to go to Tools > Options > Privacy and select 'Tell sites that I do want to be tracked'. Other browsers may have similar settings.
May I assume you want to download anti spyware rather than spyware ?
It is up to you how much cover you want and what you are content to put up with.
I run superantispyware on my PC every now and again to get rid of spying coookies, but it finds other stuff too. One has no need to track where an individual visits in order to show them ads.
Thanks for your replies Buenchico and Old Geezer, both answers sound about right. I run Explorer and Windows 7. Have tried Firefox in the past but being used to Explorer found it a bit off putting. If I changed over would it cause any problems with any programme setups or anything else?
Changing to Firefox shouldn't cause you any problems at all. (It's actually very similar to Internet Explorer in it's layout anyway. It's Chrome that I find totally baffling!)
Thanks Buenchico - will give it a go. The members on answerbank have got me out of a few problems in the past. I know this one is not serious, but nevertheless it's nice to get a response. cheers!
