I tried to launch itunes today but it said "the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".
It also said "itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)".

I have looked up how to reinstall itunes but I use it to synch my iphone and am worried that I might lose info by reinstalling. Is that likely to happen?

you might want to make a backup copy of your music files, preferably away from your computer (on an external hard drive, for instance), just in case.

All my music is saved to an external drive already jno. It is my phone info that Im worried about. But is that info saved in itunes or on my laptop?

I am so clueless about this type of thing.
What OS are you using? If you have Windows 8 go to the Apple website there is a patch for it there
