Video Editing - Adding Music.

Every time I try to add music to a video I get an error message e.g. 0xC946001E or 0x87160129 as well as a yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark.
When I right click on the music file (fix it) I get a message saying that the movie cannot be saved or published until the track(.wma) is removed from the project.
At the moment I'm using Windows Live Movie Maker and believe .wma files are compatible with it.
Can anyone suggest a simple solution to the problem?

Also can anyone recommend any other good video editing software that doesn't cost the earth!

Try converting the .wma to .mp3 file format.

There is a free program available for download and install at:

Thanks bazwillrun.
I was reading up about that and will have to investigate further.
None of the other options suggested have worked so maybe that's what I should look into next.
