If your new drive comes with mounting screws, use them! SOmetimes the old screws are too long, and foul moving parts inside the drive. Usually the instructions tell you the maximum screw length, or it may even by stamped on the side of the drive.
When you are pulling out the connectors from the old drive, pull them by the body - not the cable. Gently wiggle them from side to side if they do not come out easily.
