Any helpful suggestions as to why my CD writer on my PC is refusing to open so that I can burn off a CD? Yes I did press the 'button' that is supposed to release it.

If it's 'trying' to open it then it may just be stuck, give it a bit of a clean and have another go.

If it's dead then it may be a power issue inside or a broken drive. If you know what you are doing you can open the case and see if you have any other free power connectors to try that.

By the way to get it open there will be a small hole near the drawer that you need to push in with a paper clip.
To clarify, pushing in the release button will just take the catch off, if the drawer really is stuck them you will need to try and pull it, but with the button pushed in.
You could also try going to 'My Computer'. Right click on the CD drive then click on 'Eject' in the drop down box.

Hi, First I tried what rccatnap suggested but it came up saying 'an error occured' & consequently didn't open. Thx for trying to help tho' rccatnap. II_ billym, how do I clean it if I can't get it open? Or do you mean just wipe around the button? Plus, I can't find the little hole ANYWHERE?! Advise please!
