With the latest airplane disaster, why can't they use one of the hundreds of satellites bouncing around our planet. I understand they can be programmed to detect most things, like gold & precious metals and oil & gas & even different temperatures;maybe even temperatures of 98.4F?
Isn't there some sort of standard device fitted into all aircraft that emitts an electronic signal at an internationally recognised frequency. Don't all planes contain a 'black-box' or something? With all of our advancements,we're still not learning, are we?
So sad. So sad.

sorry you've a lot to learn about aircraft technology
Most of which can be read in the recent news reports about the incident.
During the Cold War the Americans, and probably the Soviets too, were said to have radars that could detect a missile launch thousands of miles away. If they did really exist are they no longer in use?
