See 'Connecting to a Network' here to see if you're actually connected to your hub:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/get-online-tutorial
If you're not, but your laptop can 'see' the hub, try connecting to it.
If you're not connected and your laptop can't even see the hub then either:
a) the option to hide its SSID has been enabled (which would seem unlikely as you're clearly not a computer expert) ; or
b) the wireless signal isn't being broadcast by the hub (which suggests that it's either turned off or there's a fault with the hub).
If your laptop is connected to the wifi signal from the hub (but possibly showing 'No internet access') and you definitely can't get online, you need to reset your laptop's TCP/IP stack:
Click the Search icon on the Charms bar and type 'Command Prompt' in the search box
Right click the search result and choose to Run as administrator
Type the command NETSH INT IP RESET C:\RESTLOG.TXT and press the Enter key
