The download speed is always the major factor for broadband and is always the speed advertised by the providers.
I think the upload speed is equally important and although it doesn't need to be as fast as the download it should still be adequate.

I've recently gone from 3Mbps to over 12Mbps and I can really tell the difference.

Mine's always 1.8mbps, but that's a big improvement on what it was!

What download speed do you get, marje?
wow, mine's about 0.4. I'm not sure what gets uploaded and what difference 12 Mb would make?

I send a lot of large photo files to blipfoto and use a lot of cloud storage so the upload speed does make a big difference.

Download is usually about 28mbps, that's 10 times faster than it used to be.
I think my previous upload speed was roughly 0.2mbps.
How do you find out what your download speed is? sorry for being thick!
Since I don't upload pics regularly nor deliberately use cloud storage, 54Mb download / 3Mb upload does very nicely for me.

God bibble, so unfair you get that when I think we're barely 20 miles apart...
