Just in case anyone is still struggling on alone - or being told it's their own fault.

There is a HUGE problem with BT Email at the moment - (many) thousands of customers have had no email access for over 2 days now.

It appears to be a problem with BT's American suppliers - the rumour mill says BT are moving people back to the old Yahoo system as fast as possible and that "emails will have been lost" in the process.

There is an update (in theory) here

https://www.bt.com/consumerFaultTracking/public/faults/tracking.do?pageId=31

(you need to click on the broadband and email tab)

But it tells big fat porkies (already claimed to be fixed several times then had to admit it isn't).

Good luck if you are affected - I'm not (gmail is OK), but am struggling to dig a few friends out of the hole that BT has dumped them in.

It's OK if you are on the old Yahoo system - and for *some* people on the new BT Mail.

It seems mainly to be people who were 'migrated' recently from Yahoo to the useless new BT Mail system.
S-D, thanks for that I was on the Yahoo system so fingers crossed....
It's been an absolute pain since they switched it over to the new system. I have to log in several times a day, their spam filter these days is rubbish (I've just moved about 10 items to my spam box), it's slow, it falls over. Yes I have given them feedback.

I've just got in today, having had more problems this morning. It's a pain. Gmail is my backup but I don't use it for everything - perhaps I should....
Thanks Dave for the info. I am now able to appreciate that BT is at present in a right mess with its new e/mail system and user IDs. For the past two days I have been trying to access my telephone/broadband account and each time I am requested to re-enter my username and password; without getting anywhere.

Hans.
For more than two days I have had no email....BT told me at first that it was the equipment in my house and offered to send an engineer for £130... finally I found a BT care forum and discovered the problem is very widespread.

It is since we had to "migrate" without choice. I was happy enough with the old system......but I wish the problem was out in the open....I know of others who like me.....had to phone a friend....if the phone worked...and ask for help when the problem is with BT.

So...to those of you I haven't replied to....especially the Aber who had a very bad fall.....sorry.....I will when/if BT sorts itself out.........xx

☺☺☺....BT is going to fix my crackly phone by sending a new hub...it won't but I got beyond discussing it with them.....

They were going to email me re. progress of my order.......I had to let that one go too.....they could try....

They sent a text.....☺
Gness, I share your annoyance. The thing was foisted upon with no choice at all, and it's crap. I have BT broadband which we don't have any problem with, it's fast and good. The email has turned into something almost not worth having.
I found everything was alright until I had an e/mail, last Friday, from the BT Mail Team which welcomed me to the new set-up.

Having always been pleased with BT's service, I proceeded to follow instructions to re- establish a BT ID and ended-up loosing my Windows Mail facility. I did re-establish my mail connection but no way could I get back the function of a desktop icon which enabled me a single click to view my telephone/broadband account, check broadband speed, usage etc.
Consequently, I am at a loss to know what steps I should now take because trying to Log-in to 'My BT' places me in the position of having to once again go through re-registration processes to no avail.

Hans.
True...or just a rumour that BT is changing its name to..Groundhog Day?

Well it's taken them a while (with an embarrassing and well deserved kicking on the BBC website) - but it seems that most people should now be OK.

You need to go back to the old Yahoo mail login :

https://login.yahoo.com/

If it doesn't work you need to clear your cookies/cache - on chrome this tells you how

https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95582?hl=en-GB

Firefox you do it via the History tab

Thanks, Dave.....I now have emails...through Yahoo with one from BT apologising for my having lost the service for several hours on Sunday! Plus Saturday and Monday which they are ignoring but I suppose a few hours sounds better than three days.

They will put me back on their new system within a few days...the new system that lost thousands of people access to email and hundreds of emails?.....Please....someone stop them....☺
I don't seem to have had any emails for ages. just thought that people may think i'm dead or they just don't want to be in touch. not sure which but now I shall just blame BT instead. thanks for that.

lady-janine

I've got a notice that keeps telling me it can't connect to bt broadband. obviously it didn't like being blamed for my lack of emails.
Somehow or other my emails came back with over 700 unread....surprising but I deleted them......tonight the blasted things came back again!

When I looked some of them were over a month old and long ago deleted.... lord it really is Groundhog Day.....

Tip of the day.....never complain to BT that you're not getting your emails... they will have their revenge.....☻
Mine's working really well at the moment.... :-)
