I have an automatic lens cover on my camera - thin plastic triangular plates that fan out from one origin. They sit behind a rigid surround so not easily accessible. The problem is it won't close more than half way, undoubtedly because I've got a grain(s) of sand in it. I can't see anything and have brushed, blown and sucked to no avail. Any tips on what to do next?

Despite getting me a bit excited I have a possible solution.... You can buy rims of compressed air (I think Halfords sell them) which blast out a jet. Might work.

What got you going Zacs - the blowing or sucking?
Thanks for the compressed air suggestion, I think there might be some of that in the garage, I'll try tonight, can't see the vid at work at the moment fender, will check it later.
Methyl it's a Samsung HD videocam, might try the mains power thing. Definitely not dropped or knocked but has been in a beach bag, I'm 100% it's a sand grain or two.
Both :-)

Thanks all, the compressed air has done it, now shuts and opens properly. On closer inspection I realise it's mechanical in operation rather than power driven.
Yeah!
