A question regarding BT dial up
5 Answers
I wonder if anyone can help me out here or maybe have had the same problem. This only started today.I'm with BT dial up on the internet & there has been a couple of times today that after i have clicked on the BT icon & it's dialing up it says on the screen checking username & password(which it always does). But then a message comes up & says "Access denied because username and/or password invalid on domain" yet when you click on the BT icon again & it's dialing up it goes straight to the BT homepage no problem.Anyone any idea what could be causing this?.The username & password that i use to access the internet with are still the same.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.it's a corrupt connection, you need to delete and recreate the connection, details below (settings are for bt broadband but should be same i'd pressume)
go to control panel
presuming u r on xp go to network connections (if you have network and internet connections then you first need to click switch to category view)
in here right click on bt and click delete
then go to create new connection, click next,
select connect to the internet and click next,
select connect using a dial up modem, next,
then choose your modem, next,
isp name is btbb
phone number should be "0,38" without quotations, next
next put in user name and password and you should be sorted,
some of that maybe in a different order don't worry, hope this helps, if not let me know :) sniper!

The phone nos.Pvtsniper has given you are in fact the VPI and VCI nos for a BT broadband connection, so ignore them.
What you are experiencing is quite common and can happen for a variety of reasons usually associated with problems with your ISP and can usually be cured by deleting and then re-inputting your password in your connection properties.
If that fails to cure it, have a word with your ISP's help desk.
gerry: Windows has a problem with connections every so often, it's related to the fact that the windows tcp/ip stack is crappy (don't worry about it), connections can sometimes become stuck with a certain password, deleting and recreating connection should make it work. go to my computer > network and dial up connections, then delete and recreate, options should be more or less the same hope this helps :)
