I'm going to get rid of Microsoft Security Essentials and install Avast and Maiwarebytes as recomended on a previous thread .

Few questions -

1. (a) Do i need a tool to uninstall MSE
(b) Do i uninstall it first , before installing Avast

2. (a) Is ' Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' two programmes or one thing
(b) How do i get a free copy

1[a] No, just remove via Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program

1[b] Yes, uninstall MSE then install Avast. Restart pc then 'run' an initial scan with Avast.

2[a] One program. The free version only runs on demand, so set a date for yourself to 'run' it to act as a reminder.

Make sure you opt out of the free trial of the full version when you install it. The installation will revert to the free version you require.

It should be straightforward to remove MSE by going into Control Panel and locating MSE in Programmes & Features...clicking onto it and clicking uninstall.

If you do have difficulties, please post again and say what operating System you have (Windows Vista, W7 or whatever.)

(b) Download installation file for Avast and Run after removal of MSE.
