have got tievion tv(aldis). turned off sky yesterdayand went from analogue to dtv mode, i'm getting hardly any chanels. been on 1 forum which says signal should be 85% at least, mine is only 64%, realised i had 12db attenuator in line so removed that and still 64% my smaller tv in bedroom works fine without aerial as i only live 200 yards from 550ft transmitter. cant seem to be able to retune tv in digital mode. any of you technical wizards any ideas.

which tv is giving you problems do you have the correct aerial?

From your description you clearly need a better signal. A larger replacement aerial on the roof maybe, or a masthead amplifier.

You could try those amplifier that boost the signal next to the TV but from there you run the risk of boosting the noise the same amount, which can prove bothersome.

As a long shot, what is the state/age of your cabling ? New black lead or old co-ax stuff ?

theres been no analogue signal for about 4 years
digital only so dont know how your worked at all

First check that your roof/loft aerial is not open-circuit. At 200 yards range the cable will pick up some signal even if the aerial is not connected to the cable.

The attenuator suggests that there has been a previous problem with too much analogue signal. I doubt if a booster will help when a coat hanger aerial will do.

Hmmm ... fair comment, my experience with boosters have been with analogue ones, and likely to boost any signal analogue or digital, but there must be digital specific ones out there somewhere too.

Analogue being switch off is a red herring ivor. Previously the signal came from a Sky box.

thaks all for your answers,Ivor 4781 what i meant was if you remember pre digital everyone had chanels1,2,3,4,5 and probably sky set up on chanel 6, not everyone used scart leads today i stopped using 6
