Chris - I must have seen you recommend the free version of Malwarebytes to solve a multitude of problems a multitude of times. I never bothered until recently when I was having a problem (you may recall a thread about it) but was constantly getting update notifications so I uninstalled it. You told me after to change the scan settings. Anyway, last weekend when I was getting those not genuine windows pop-ups I installed it again and again ran a scan with no problems. NOW this time not only am I getting the constant update reminders but when I have actually clicked 'update now' I'm told my free trial has ended. What exactly is going on, is the free version only available for a short time.
I'm not impressed, it's coming out again.

bernie I could give you a cuddle. At least I'm not going mad.
A thousand thank you's for that, Bernie!

Here you go, Prudie. Download and run mbam-clean.exe then RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. (That's needed to refresh the registry). Then download and install the free version of Malwarebytes again:
https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/hc/en-us/articles/201861636-How-do-I-uninstall-Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware-
should work did for me as chris say's cleans your registry so you start from fresh
prudie this link will take you to what you want
http://downloads.mal...file/mbam_clean
well it should do but its telling me server down
It worked for me, Bernie.
Correction!

The link which you get to via my post at 2024 works. Your link at 2032 seems to have the middle bit replaced by an ellipsis, which would explain why it doesn't work.

Yay. OK I did a complete removal via Chris' link then a re-install. I now have Malwarebytes Anti-Maiware (free) on my dashboard. Thanks to Chris, bibble, Slack Alice and Hans but I'm going to give best answer to bernie, I'm sure you'll all agree (and he made me feel better about myself).
Yay well done prudie x
Note you did not have to do an uninstall and reinstall. At the end of the trial period one of the options you are given is to revert to the free version so you could have just done that.
Chris, that seems to explain my post of a couple of weeks ago. It seems that Malwarebytes have changed something and you no longer get the option of choosing the free version if you haven't completely uninstalled any older version by using bernie's tool, if you see what I mean.
