I have just received an email supposedly from Microsoft account team saying that they have frozen my account due to unusual sign in activity. Needless to say I am not going to open the link but I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had one of these emails?

This screams scam to me.
Good you don't intend to open the link. Move the e-mail to the junk folder and block the sender.
