Re Sizing Scanned Items On Windows 8

i had to buy a new computer as microsoft did not support xp any more. I want to know how to resize my scans but can't seem to do it when I cick on the item I want to resize I get the paint screen up . I click on resize change the size click ok and then save it but it prints the same size My daughter did something to it and managed to change the size but the next day it was back to the original size and for the life of me cannot change it at all perhaps I should go back to PC world and let them have a look at it.I'm not very good with technology but had it all off pat before I had to change my computer. can anybody help me please

You should be able to open the image in Windows Live Photo Gallery, and change the size as you wish.

Did you really have to change your computer? I am still running XP with no problems. I also have a laptop running Windows 8 but still prefer XP.

This is my second go at this reply I don't know what happens buthalf way through the screen went to the history section and when I went back to this section my text was all gone. Anyway Mosaic when my daughter added my printer to the new laptop she had to download a new driver for the printer to be added consequently everything is different. i found a box for windows live photo gallery but do I have to download it the scan item or vice versa not sure how to go about it please help if you can Also glenb I had to get a new computer as my old one was so slow and I couldn't get onto certain sites anymore thanks for taking the time to read my query

Ellie, when you scan something it will be saved 'somewhere' on your computer. The trick for success is to know where. Most domestic scanners seem to create a folder inside their own program and stash stuff there if you don't tell it to do otherwise.
So say your scanner is a kodak - find the kodak program folder in 'programs' and open it up to see if any of the folders are called 'scans', 'images', or something like that.
I find it easier when I scan something to tell the damn machine exactly where I want it stored. so I always choose 'save as' - not just 'save'.
When you've found the image you're after, you should be able to right-click on it and 'open with windows live'.

Thanks Mosaic I know where my scans end up but I have always left clicked which brings up paint. I will have a go at right clicking thanks again
