Document Locked For Editing - Read Only Copy
This warning happens on me alot and is very annoying.
I save my work regularly as I go so I'm not losing anything but it is a nuisance to have to keep renaming a document and saving it again to continue with what I have been working on. It seems to happen mainly when there has been a pause in me working on the document.
I have googled why it happens and it seems to be when another one is open but that is never the case with me. Also, there is no 'other user' on my computer.
Can anyone explain why it's happening and what I can do to prevent it from happening so often.
Thanks.

I would always say work on a version on the computer and back it up to the flash drive. Flash drives can fail just like that!
Also I'm assuming you're using Word or some other part of Microsoft Office. It could be the file is saved in an older version format.

The 'other user' could be malware or spyware. It is not unknown for malicious programs to attack the user privileges area and elevate themselves to administrator level, which will make the malicious software very hard to remove.
In future it would help you to create a user account for yourself, over and above the root, administrator account. Malware coming down your internet connection cannot exploit the reduced-privilege account quite as easily.
