Also my sent emails I wanted to see whether any of the jobs I've applied for have replied now everything has gone.

:( I've been in tears all evening. How could this have happened? Has someone got into my account and manually deleted everything up until June or is there a glitch or server problem with yahoo?

Please help me. :(

I don't know what to do. Is there a way to restore everything?

What Email provider do you use?
Question Author
Baldric I use Yahoo.co.uk

The spam folder is untouched. Isn't that weird or does this point to my account compromised?
Question Author
My drafts have also disappeared so that's the drafts/inbox emails and emails sent all deleted from the 29th June until now.

Surely no one would have the time to delete everything in those 3 folders to the same date. Could this be an error on the yahoo side?
Are they in your trash folder?
Question Author
No the trash is empty.

Have you heard of anything like this happening to someone before?

I have no enemies and there haven't been any malicious emails sent to my knowledge so it can't be a random hacker could it as I have nothing of value in my emails or haven't angered anyone recently.

I need to go bed as this is too stressful. Thanks for the help everyone and I might peer in before I go to sleep.

I'm just hoping this is a bad dream and when I wake up everything is back to normal.

Goodnight :(
It's a long shot but BT internet has recently redesigned so that the emails are on separate pages, 50 per page, instead of all on one scrollable page. Yahoo is linked to BT - is it possible you're on Page 2 or 3 etc of your emails rather than Page 1?
How are you accessing your mail?

Is it via the website or is it through an app? Or have you used an email program?

My yahoo mail does not always show new messages if I use Safari on the ipad. It does if I use another browser. Also, messages I've read on the computer don't show in ipad Safari - but they may show up days later!

PS. My yahoo is not BT yahoo. BT are moving from yahoo - so it may have something to do with that.

Methyl my email addy is really old and goes back quite a few years but this one is my only yahoo one.

Crikeymoses I thought that at the beginning but when I scroll down to see the page number the emails just go further and further back so I can never reach the bottom.

Tuvok I'm with sky and not bt.

I'm going to sleep now and hope it's magically restored by morning.

Have a good night and thank you all. :)

Hi Henrietta, I feel for you as this has happened to me in the past. I use Outlook Express 6 and when I close my In Box I get a message every time saying this .....
"To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take a few mins. OK or Cancel?"
In the past I clicked OK and let OE compact them and it went through all my sub folders containing valuable emails but when it had finished i was horrified to see I had lost a years worth of incoming emails which I had wanted to keep. I NEVER allow it now, I always click on cancel. Maybe Yahoo does a similar thing?
if your emails have vanished in the last seven days...

Thanks Methyl, that explains it. I never let it compact files now so it hasn't happened again.
