Is there such a thing as a simple mobile phone? My mobile has an instruction book of 202 pages (7 chapters), plus 3 smaller booklets. I’ve had it for several years but hardly ever use it because of its complexity - I just can’t be bothered with it. All I want is to send and receive phone calls and text messages. Suggestions welcome.

I believe Doro phones are what you are looking for.
Here's a link to their website http://www.doro.co.uk

Thank you Eccles, I'll have a look.
Chums website, although primarily they sell clothes, they do market a very basic any SIM mobile with no frills and a good price. It is aimed at the elderly with poor eyesight as it has large numbered keyboard.

Chums sell a Binatone for £29.99p or a Flip Up by Amplicomms for £49.99p. Both have big buttons and take any network SIM apart from 3.

Another helpful answer thank you.
I see you've already got good answers, but Tesco does a simple mobile for £9. It does exactly what you said you want.
Glad to assist.
One problem with Doro phones...they are pricey for what you get. The cheapest simple mobile is the Nokia 100....less than a tenner.
...better picture from Tesco direct...

Like most "Hi Tech" these days, it comes with functions and the like that only the geeks know about and use. Any mobile phone can be used by looking up the basics of making or receiving a call and/or text. You can often ignore the rest. Arguably if you use data you may need to know more to protect yourself & your phone, as you do for your PC, but no one is obliged to get a so called "smart phone".
