Can't Print Document
16 Answers
I've saved a document as a pdf file in my Documents folder (Windows 7) but it won't print; every time I get to that point the computer crashes. There's no problem with other documents. I've opened it with Adobe reader, which I've just updated (to see if that was what was causing the problem, but it's just the same with the newer version). Any thoughts, please?

Working on a copy of the orginal documnet, try removing part of the document and then save it as a pdf. Try printing it. If it works, put back in a bit more of the document and try again.
It could be a dodgy font - select all of the document and change the font.
Its just going to be trial and error.

If I were an American teenager instead of a 71 year-old grandmother I'd say "Hey, methyl, chill!"....... I used the free version of malwarebytes - which, incidentally, completed its check rather more quickly than last time, thank goodness - and had the usual '1 object detected' with the option to quarantine it, which I did. Not sure what further information you might require.
What computer/laptop and what make and model printer are you using.
The following are 'old instructions' but, if you have the most up-to-date Reader and Printer Drivers, the instructions could be of some help :-

Desktop, with Atom processor; Canon pixma iP2850, only a couple of months old. As I said, it's only this one document that is the problem. Re the 'crash', perhaps I've used the wrong word; everything freezes, the cursor won't work, I can't go back to a previous screen or shut down normally - the only way is to switch off and then on again. Haven't tried it again today as i've been working on it, but will have another go soon, now that the '1 detected object' has been quarantined. Even if it works, I'd be interested to know how it happened.
The next stage in the saga....
I tried printing a Word document - no problem. Tried again to print the one that wouldn't work; this time the cursor froze as soon as I clicked on Print. Switched off, rebooted. Tried another Adobe pdf document; got a little further, then it froze again. Pressed the on-off switch for just one second; image of Documents folder on screen disappeared, and the document printed.... I'd decided that it was probably a fault in the new version of Adobe reader I downloaded (though the problem first arose before I did that), but now I'm not so sure. Would it be sensible to uninstall it and start again?
Oh, and I'm using Norton anti-virus and I don't know what Windows event viewer is or does?
