Netflix Film Streaming
7 Answers
We are old fashioned!! and still have a Lovefilm DVD postal account with Amazon. However, we're looking at getting a Samsung or Panasonic Smart TV (laptop too small for my poor eyesight) and that will enable us to have Netflix as I don't think you can get Lovefilm streaming on those two brands of TVs.
With a DVD we can pause it whenver we want (make a cuppa etc) or even stop it to continue watching next day 9if I fall asleep!!)
I know nothing about streaming films but presume you must be able to pause it somehow, but can you pause it as above, to carry on watching another day, or do you have to start the film again? Thanks

As long as the TV is a Smart Tv that has apps you'll have Netflix and love film. We have both on our Samsung TV. If we watch something on the TV downstairs we can continue to watch it from where we left off on the TV upstairs as long as you are using the same account.
Thanks AliFlump. I didn't think I could get Lovefilm on a Samsung, but you have it so that's great to know. This might sound like a daft question, but how do you actually pause a srteamed film? By that I mean with a DVD player you have a dedicated remote with a pause button which is obvious. On a Smart TV do you also have a pause button? Thanks
From what I can tell from looking on Amazon, their streaming is only possible on selected TV brands. Yjey do list Samsung, but only certain models. I am puzzled by all this as I'd have thought all TV brands/Amazon would want to give users access to all available content. I am looking at Samsung UE32H5500 Smart TV
Amazon will only offer their services to companies that contract to sell their tvs through Amazon at a hefty discount. Be aware that Amazon can take that away at any time so you could lose Lovefilm from your tv at any time after you've bought it.
Same for any of the other apps that are available on a particular tv when you buy it.
You pause the stream using the pause button on your smart tv remote, which will also pause live tv. No different to using the remote on your dvd player.

If you don't actually need to buy a new tv you can buy a smart box that will turn your existing tv in to a smart one.
There is the NOW tv box, for £9.99 that doesn't have access to LoveFilms, it uses Sky Movies for £9.99 a month (cancel any time).
