That doesn't work. Particularly as one ages the mind has blind spots so you know, since you checked it umpteen times, there can be no typos, but there they are the microsecond after you hit the submit button.

Well either that or I'm right, that this is no rational universe we live in and tech is out to get you.

Ah, they have to make things different in different version in order to convince you it's "New & Improved" and you must throw away your old perfectly OK and familiar OS in order to give them more money for the new set of hair tearing annoyances provided.

I would have thought that these days you could just use a writable CD in an appropriate write enabled drive, in much the same way as copying a file anywhere. Not that I make CDs much. In the early years I had too many convert into place mats for mugs or frisbees. Every one a loser. Put me off using them. Although in fairness I get more success on the rare occasion I write to one now.

Windows didn't originally come with built-in disc-burning software. You had to install and use third-party programs (such as Nero or Ashampoo Burning Studio). Then Microsoft added built-in disc-burning to Windows but the way to access it is slightly different with different versions of Windows. (Microsoft's policy seems to be to make a simple task harder every time they 'improve' Windows!)

Could you email the document to someone else and ask them to save it to disK?

OK, I've got it. What you do is click on an icon that looks like an old fashioned Floppy Disc at the top left of the screen, then all the options come up!
