I updated my computer and then all my picture is gone.help.i did not have a memory card or a backup.

If you've completely updated your computer it may have gone :-(

We had a reset before Christmas but thankfully everything is stored on our external hard drive.

Any trash or recycle bin on your desktop, you could look in there?

What exactly did you do?

If you did a reset to factory settings or a full restore, then that will have wiped the hard disk.

If you reinstalled the operating system, it MAY have wiped the hard disk, depending on the options you selected.

If you have upgraded to a new operating system, again it may have wiped, or it may have moved your files to a different folder.

First thing to do is a search for a file name for one of the missing files.
If that fails to show up then you can run recovery programmes FROM A DIFFERENT DISK and see it the missing files are still in existence (don't save anything more to the disk).
If that fails you can write them off as an experience learnt.

One could be more sure of a legitimate answer with more info than "I updated my computer". That could mean you traded it in for a faster model, even.
