Websearch.wisesearch.info
Whenever I download Google Chrome from the Google Website this browser hijacker takes over.
Tried to remove it using AdwCleaner; Junkware removal tool; Malawarebytes Anti-Malware and even Trojan Killer, but none of these seem to touch it.
It does disappear when I uninstall Chrome. Any ideas please? Apart from not installing Chrome in the first place.
Using Windows 8.1 (64bit) plus McAfee Anti-virus plus.

Scroll to about halfway down and do what they recommend in re-setting Chrome browser.
I'd also 'run' a Threatscan by Malwarebytes with your computer in 'Safe' mode

This suggests using hitman pro, although I stress I'm not that I'm an expert on it.

It may well be you simply had to remove the search engine from the list of possible ones in your browser.
As for the defunct re-install, does the Chrome site have recommendations on checking that the previous version is completely removed ?

Thank you OG, you could be right. Part of the problem I think was not accepting that Chrome would be my default browser on its installation. I know it can be changed later, but an hour ago I did accept it and it did install. Sure enough, Websearch.wisesearch.info reappeared.
I had in mind to use to use Hitman Pro and if I do I'll let you know how it goes.
Yes Methyl, I always use the Administrator account, but thank you for your input. There was nothing in the error message that could be useful immediately. The advice was to get to the installation Log and take a screenshot to forward to Google. Yes I did reboot between attempted installations. I'll try all the other suggestions now I've got Chrome back.
In the meantime, I'll just pour a small G & T and stroke my cat, Mimi above.

Thank you Methyl. Your thoughts concur with mine regarding IE. I do tend to use that. When Chrome is working properly it is very quick, because it's a lightweight browser. Therein maybe its weakness.
Following the previous advice from all you great people, I have finally got Chrome to discard Websearch.wisesearch.info which is what I wanted to do in the first place. So thank you everyone.
