An iPad2 has, for no apparent reason, started showing this message.

All other devices are OK and have tried a different wifi connection. Any suggestions for what to try next?

Try putting into airplane mode and leaving for a few minutes.

Then turn wifi back on again.

What, exactly does airplane mode mean or do? Pardon my ignorance.
Airplane mode is when you disable your device from connecting to anything (wifi/Bluetooth etc) So on an aircraft you can still use your device. you can still play music and watch downloaded films and play game that do not require an Internet connection. I have been told to charge my iPad in airplane mode as it is quicker. It is quicker.

Airplane mode didn't work but all is well after a reboot.
