Infrared disabled

My work laptop,a Dell Latitude d400 has its Infrared port disabled. I can't even see it in Control Panel.

How do I enable it? I dont have admin rights on it.

I think it will be disabled in the bios.

When you first turn the machine on, it will say something like press F3 to enter BIOS. You may be prompted for a password if it is a work PC and they have set a password up.

If you can get into your BIOS, make sure you don't change anything else or you can completely screw up your system.

In there somewhere will be Irda port - disabled. This needs to be changed to enabled.
