Hello technophiles.....compared to my daughter's broadband speed, mine is very slow. A quick speedcheck on line gives a reading of 3,9 to my daughter's 10.....quite a lot of (paying ) offers promise superior results.....is there a reliable way to up the speed....
Who is your broadband provider?
Are you connecting via wifi or ethernet?
Where do you live? Is there high speed broadband such as Virgin cable available in your area?
thank you hc4361 and bhg481 for your prompt replies....BT is my provider and is trying its best to sell me Infinity....years ago, cable was installed in the local area, but they ignored my house as it was at the bottom of a long drive!
Since then, the telephone communications have not been good..maybe fibre is the way forward.
Thank you very much indeed.
Just to put it in perspective I get 2.5. I find it brilliantly fast in comparison to the 0.4 I was getting a couple of years ago. It does all depend on where you live, what's available in your area and what you pay for. Have you asked any neighbours what they're getting?
If BT is your supplier no other provider can exceed that speed - they all use BT lines. Infinity is the only way unless Virgin is prepared to install cable for you.
BT keeps trying to get me to change to Infinity. They seem to have stopped phoning, or maybe it's because I no longer deal with folk whose number I do not see & recognise, but the still post junk mail with the "you must pay by DD" deal killer in the small print on it. I wish they'd have the sense to stop. If I was willing to do anything so daft I'd not still be with them !
