Launch date, I understand, is October of this year....

Any views/opinions? I think that I am trying to hold on to then as the PC is a bit knackered physically...Asus....Windows 7 (which I like as a prolific writer/presentations). What I have seen of 8, yeuck.

All I can say is Husband has been trialling it since day 1 and thinks it way better than 8, and he was one of the people that rated 8. He can't wait until full release and has changed his phone so he can get it on that as well.

thanks ubasses....
Heard lots of good things about it,from re in stating the start button onwards.
I think I read free upgrades from 8 or 8.1 will be available.Don't rush into it,there are bound to e teething troubles but it looks hopeful
Windows 8 can be customised to perform like earlier versions of Windows.

Yes the start button is back, but then you can add one to 8.1. Hopefully most of the teething problems will be ironed out by the end of the trial.
Was there a Windows 9?
No Windows 9 then? why not, unlucky number?

Nope, No 9 crashed, I guess.
I'm trialling it and I like it. It will be a free upgrade for all Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 machines.

Very easy to use, bright and fresh and upgrading doesn't lose your documents etc.

I'm running W8.1 on my main pc and Android Lollipop on my tablet and in my opinion there is no comparison between the two.

I have upgraded 3 pcs from Windows 7 to W8 and then W8.1 with no problems at all. I have upgraded one of those pcs to W10 and again it was straightforward with no problems.

One of my W8.1 computers is dual booted with Ubuntu and another with W7.

Clean install on a formatted hard drive is preferable but if you have an older or obscure pc there may be problems finding the drivers for the latest system.

Anyway, to get back to the OPs question I find W10 boots up fast, is surprisingly stable for a beta trial version and in my opinion is simple and intuitive in day to day use.
