Laptop Keyboard Short Cut Issue

hello

On my laptop - an asus x54c on win 7 - the keyboard shortcut used to zoom in is, like all others, ctrl > + and ctrl >- to zoom out.

however, i can zoom in ok with this ... but for some reason for the last month or so, pressing ctrl >- actually lightens the screen brightness instead!

No idea why - anyone any ideas? or of how to stop it?

thanks methyl - i think its usually firefox, version 37.0
i haven't noticed it on any other software, but i'll keep an eye out now

the notation is just the way i wrote it out on here - on firefox it is actually
ctrl ++ and ctrl +-

If you are using a mouse, what happens if you hold control and wiggle your mouse wheel?

It's not a Windows function but it works in every browser so I can't understand why you're having this problem, joko. What happens when you use ctrl+the screen brightness key?

It works in all browsers, methyl, even the new Vivaldi.

exactly = its always worked before, and on my other laptop

nothing happens with ctrl screen brightness - because on this machine you press the function button - but everything works fine as far as i can tell

Hmmm... just tried it on chrome ... it still did it ... it must be the laptop then??

It's a puzzle. Did you try the mouse wheel thing?

i dont have a mouse - its a laptop

You'd be surprised how many laptop users prefer a mouse to the touchpad :)

Have you tried it with the other Ctrl key?
