I would follow up with Martin Clunes then Paul Whitehouse.

i don't think it will work without him, the show works imo because of the rapport between the three presenters, if you bring someone else in, that camaraderie will not be there, no matter how knowledgeable or matey her or her is with the other two.

To be honest Mccfluff, I think the programme in it's current form has run it's course and needed freshening up anyway.

A change in the presenting line up might be just what it needs.

Top Gear will survive without Clarkson and it would give the programme a chance to change course and grow, as its getting very dated in its present format which has hardly changed for years. James May and Hammond should anchor the show together with a guest 3rd man/woman. More cars and less stupid adventures in foreign lands with Clarkson being a dock head and always wining the races would certainly make me start watching it again and quite a few others I would guess.

I think the people who want AP to present it are AP Fans and just want to see more of AP on the Box. They are not car enthusiasts (the OPer in his own words, drives 'a little Fiesta, so not exactly a keen driver) AP would be totally out of place on something like that imo!

I don't agree, the show is a success because of the three of them. Yes of course it will carry on but i very much doubt it will as successful.
