it is not normally this frequent - its usually quite random and a lot of time can pass between beeps - so i havent managed to record it before - but for some reason at this point there seemed to be loads - no idea why - but i managed to record them

any ideas what it could be?

What is the make/model of your laptop and how old is the hard drive?

I hear intermittent short chirps and a very odd rustle. I haven't heard those noises from a pc or laptop before.

its pretty much brand new - this the 2nd one ive had - same model - and i sent the first back because of this
it a HP p275na

i actually have a weird feeling they have sent back the one i returned - without checking it - it was still in the 30 day guarantee - it was supposed to be a refund and re-order - which is what i did, and when i looked on the website it said 1 model left - then none ...so i wondered if they received it and just put it to go straight out again - not realising theyd sent it to the same person

i dont know if they would have done that or if they would have at least examined it - they knew the laptop seems to work ok - its just this noise

its quite annoying - an i have never heard a laptop do this either

i did leave a reply for you on your other post ref this, saying i think it could be the same problem as i have with my laptop, although mine isn't new .. not sure if you saw it or not?
(i'm not able to play/listen to your audio file)
