Dropbox Cpu Usage
4 Answers
I have Dropbox installed on my laptop but even when it's not open it sends my CPU usage up by 50% every few minutes which makes my whole system very slow especially as I use Chrome which is thirsty in itself. Is it right that it's doing this and is there a way I can disable what it's doing (constantly checking I guess???) so it only updates when I specifically want to open it?
Anyone understand what I'm talking about?

Look through the options on 'Dropbox' and see if you can find an option to disable startup when Windows starts.
If no option available you might have to use 'msconfig'

scroll down to 'Services' and 'Startup'

Your comment suggests to me that the program starts on boot up and is therefore running in the background?

Dropbox does start on boot, because it monitors the Dropbox folder, so that it knows when you drop a file in it.
