Copying Photos From Iphone To Pc

Can anyone help on this please. I am not very pc literate, but can understand plain speak.

If there are just a few photos you want to copy to your PC you can email the photos to yourself from your phone. Then open the email on your PC and save the photos.

An ipad appears as a removable device and you can download the photos that way.

I found a programme called iExplorer which lets you see the folders.
