I've gone through all the maintenance options, bought new inks, but the paper just comes out either blank or with not a lot on it. Is there anything else I can try or do I need a new one? x

Make? Model?
you probably tried all of this but the link may help somewhere for you

How many times have you tried 'head cleaning' through the maintenance options?

1. Print a test sheet
2. Head clean
3. Print another test sheet

Is there any improvement after doing this.
>>>I've gone through all the maintenance options

How many times have you run the 'deep cean' utility? I've known it take at least 8 attempts before the print head starts to clear.

Hi all. It's a Kodak ESP C310. The options I have are Check ink levels, Calibrate printer,Clean printhead and Print test page.
Chris, I have never seen a deep clean utility. Will just have a look at the link that eanceoil has put on. x
I hope you find an answer there Barsel
Cleaning the print head is what I'd suggest and unless I'm wrong it's also what Chris is suggesting you do. The only annoying thing is that it does use a substantial amount of ink, especially if you have to do it 8 times.
I have a Kodak which I hate!!!!
Have you recently done an update? Every time I did I would have to uninstall and then reinstall.
Working through this mght help:
http://support.en.kodak.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/24876/selected/true
but it will probably come down to cleaning the print head MULTIPLE times!!!

I was wondering whether to uninstall then reinstall or perhaps it has something to do with the drivers, (whatever they are).
when my printer stops working it's the driver, that, in my computer (Lexmark 2700 series -old) is the disk I have to uninstall and put the CD back in and re-install it
If your printer is responding to instructions from your computer (by attempting to print something) it's almost certainly NOT a driver problem.

Nearly all printers allow you to access ALL of the maintenance functions (which might not be obvious elsewhere) by going to Start > Printers and then RIGHT-clicking on your printer icon, followed by clicking on Properties and then on the Maintenance tab. Take a look there to see if there's a 'deep clean' option; if not, just keep running the ordinary head-cleaning utility instead.
As I have said when I did an update it would stop printing I could do other tasks but it would not print. As I have also said I hate it!!!

Thanks for the link Chris and for explaining about the drivers. On the link it suggested I may need a new printhead and it shows how to fit one. Will have a look in the properties to see if I see the deep clean option.
Gavmacp if all else fails I will uninstall but I will leave that until tomorrow.
Thanks for all your answers. x

Have cleaned the printheads 6 times and it is printing now but very hit and miss. Looked at printheads at Amazon and they are about £40 so if uninstalling doesn't work, it might mean a new printer. x
>>>it suggested I may need a new printhead and it shows how to fit one

I hope not! I've never found ANY printer where the cost of a new print head isn't substantially MORE than the cost of a new printer!

If you need a new printer, look for a Canon model that uses separate ink cartridges for each colour; it will save you a fortune in the long run!. Then buy decent compatible inks.

This would be my current recommendation:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/printers-ink/printers-scanners/all-in-one-printers/canon-pixma-mg6450-all-in-one-wireless-inkjet-printer-21737241-pdt.html#cat-0
with inks from here:
http://www.inkredible.co.uk/inkredible-saver-canon-pixma-mg6450-ink-cartridges
(£30 will buy you FOUR full sets of 5 cartridges, so that's just £1.50 per cartridge)

NB: Those recomndations aren't just based upon a bit of googling. That printer is an updated version of the Canon printer I use myself and that ink supplier is where I buy my own inks from. I get superb quality prints!

Thanks again Chris. If I do buy a new printer, I would want one that is good for printing photo's and the one I was looking at online at PC World was the Canon Selphy CP 910. Will have a look at your recommendations. x

Just realised the one I like is just for photos so your suggestion of the Cannon MG 6450 sounds like it will be good for photo's also. x

Methyl: Barsel is running Windows Vista but isn't aware of what version of Vista. I just thought I'd mention it in order for you to save having to wait for her to come back online.
