Just recently I am getting a lot of "unresponsive pages" or pages freezing on me.Is there anyway I can stop this happening.

Try the following things to avoid this issue.
1.Use a good antivirus which can heal malware very well.
2.Clear your browser cookies daily.
3.Go to RUN and paste this code %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\ and press enter.You will see a folder named Default.Rename that folder as Backup Default.Now Run Google Chrome. Hope the issue will resolve now.
If still issue is not resolved then reinstall google chrome.
