memory operates at different frequency's as does your processor gfx card and the likes, the speeds supported are 400/300/266/200/133/100/66/33
theoretically any piece of memory should run just at the speed of the board.

your manual should say whether you need to put in single or double sided memory also. hope this helps.
The DIMMs need to be unbuffered and non-ECC and although DDR266 is designated PC2100 you can use faster modules such as PC2700 and PC3200, as indicated by PvtSniper, which you may find cheaper but they will only run at the slower speed supported by your motherboard.
