Ee Pay As You Go

Can anyone tell me why my credit runs down, I am with EE Pay As You GO and I put £20.00 on it last month but today they say I have 80p left, if I use WiFi does this use the credit up or do I get charged for reading text messages, not sure whats going on.

Can you not check your EE account. PAYG means exactly what it says I cannot imagine you get anything for free.

the alternative is being locked into some crippy contract

Using wi-fi isn't chargeable. Receiving texts isn't chargeable either.

You've not stated whether you put the credit on by simply paying for that credit, per se, or through buying a 'pack'. Packs can work out much cheaper (per call or text) for heavy users but they're time-limited (to either 7 days or 30 day, depending upon the pack chosen). At the end of the relevant period all unused credit is lost. See page 2 here:

EE also offers 'add-ons', which work in a similar way to 'packs' (i.e. they're time-limited). See page 4 here:

What I can't see in those tables is if your phone can charge you for data usage when you've not purchased a relevant pack or add-on. My own phone (on Vodafone), for example, has a symbol at the top of the screen that tells me the weather and temperature where I am. However (unless I turn data off) it uses a data connection to do so and, if I've not purchased a pack including data, charges me £1 per day for telling me what I could find out by looking out of my window! (So, as I only use my phone for calls & texts, I ensure that its data connection is always disabled).

I don't know if this may be relevant. But if you go over your Data allowance on your wifi it will then use credit on the phone to pay for internet usage. Or if you are out and about using the internet will that not eat away at any credit you may have?
I used to have an o2 bundle...I paid £30 per month and I got so many minutes/texts/data allowance and when I went over that allowance it was taken off my credit.
But I would go with what Buenchico or those above me have said previously.

This happened to me. Went into EE store and was told it was to do with roaming. They switched it off for me.
