Where can I find Sonic?

Hi, my girlfriend has been asking me for ages whether I can buy Sonic for my PC. I know that Sonic Racing and Sonic 3D are available, but she wants one of the old-style 2D platform games, which just don't seem to be available anymore. I was wondering whether anyone could tell me if they are available to download off the internet?

If you do a search on the net for "Sega megadrive/Genesis emulators" you can download a piece of software which when run will turn your pc into a megadrive.You can also download all the sega games to play, which is great if you have an older pc as the games files are so small.Most of them run perfectly and if you plug in a joypad, it's just like playing a sega.
