Offensive posts from regular users

Why are the regular user's so quick to become abusive and offensive?  I have noticed a lot of new users posting threads, which aren't offensive, and then basically the same people gang up on them.  Who runs this website?

excuse me, I am a regular user and do not "become abusive and offensive" neither do many others. A small minority of people on here do behave in this way, please do not tar us all with the same brush!

I haven't noticed anything like this. I've noticed a few regulars quite rightly stand up for themselves when some greenie thinks it's funny or clever to start hurling abuse (whether for real or because they're trying to, ho hum, "spice it up" a bit), but I haven't noticed anyone "ganging up" on civilised, decent posters, either green or grey.

We'll be back to accusations of these mythical "cliques" next!

I tried to stick up for someone the other day, but got abuse because of it.  I know the majority are great.
