Win 10

I can update to Win 10 today if I do so but I don't like Win 10 can I go back to W7 with no trouble?

I think it is being released on the 29th.

I'm unsure about going back. No issue if you have the Win 7 install disks of course. Personally I disliked the unprofessional appearance of 8 so I'm not rushing to get 10. Worth letting them do a few updates on it first whist someone else irons out bugs anyway.

Windows 10 is available from July 29th ONWARDS (not everyone will get it on July 29th it will be a phased install).

I doubt you will be able to go back to Windows 7 once you have gone to Windows 10.

Best thing to do is take an "image" of your current disk using a program like Macrium Reflect Free Edition (or other program) and store that image on an external hard drive.

Then if you don't like Windows 10 you can reinstall Windows 7 from the image you created.

ive read you can, of course you should like i have make a clone of you hard drive now on a separate or external hard drive. there are free programmes on the web where you can do this (easus todo )for one then you can use it to revert back to win7.although so far win10 looks good from what ive read

Looks like you MAY be able to go back to Windows 7 after an upgrade to Windows 10.

Note that major upgrades of Windows from one version to another CAN go wrong and you can lose files or it can wreck your disk.

So before installing Windows 10 backup ALL your personal data to an external hard drive.

Also take an "image" of your hard disk (as mentioned above) so if it goes badly wrong you can take your PC back to the way it was.

One other thing.

Microsoft have never tried anything like this before, to upgrade Windows on millions of computers all over the world at pretty much the same time.

So there is a possibility it will all go pear shaped.

So if I were you I would not rush to install it on July 29th or a date near that.

I would leave it for a month or so, maybe longer, to let them iron out some of the major bugs.

I used to work in software development and ALL software ships with bugs, some more major than others, and it may turn out that this version of Windows 10 has some hidden bug or other that nobody has discovered yet.

Let others have the pain of it all going wrong, and stand back and install Windows 10 at some later date like September.

Windows 10 is free for a year so you have plenty of time.

VHG as i read it it will download after july29th and stayin the background vready to be installed ,so looks to me that you will get this first "ready" version if you do wait ? this from the guardian press... "Windows Update will download the code in the background, and you will merely have to accept the offer to install it. The only limitation is that you have to install it within a year of Windows 10’s release."
