Can someone please explain this to me?
It seems that Cameron and the government want to have access to all our private conversations etc on sites such as Google and WhatsApp yet at the same time wants to ban such sites as WhatsApp.

The PM is claiming that this information isn't being shared correctly.
I understand this frustration as any information going through an american server (or through an american company) can be collected by the US gov under the patriot act.
Cameron obviously wants this kind of power.
