Hi, if you're around tritan. Just to let you know the final outcome of my trials and tribulations with my pc. I'd been having trouble booting with the Master cds and bootdisk from my preinstalled version of Windows. MS very kindly sent me a proper XP home disk, which I have now managed to reinstall Windows with.

Everything seems to be working perfectly. My computer has been on for over 12 hours so far, and not a hint of a dodgy icon. It's given me the chance to clear a lot of rubbish off my pc and start over.

I don't think I'll ever know exactly what the cause of my old problem was, but I'm so glad it's sorted.
