Help Needed Please
4 Answers
My PC broke down last week and I was told I needed a new hard drive. Today - £169 poorer- I have my pc back with its new hard drive. I like to have lots of icons on my desktop so that I just click on what site i need. However, I cannot work out how to do this. I usually right click then I can see choices eg Save on desktop. Oddly enough it has worked with Yahoo mail but nothing else.

A new hard disk costs around £60 and fitting it is a 20 minute job. getting the programs across would take longer but much of that is done unattended. I`d certainly make sure that all your stuff worked and all possible upgrades were installed. Do you care to name and shame.
You appear to require icons for specific pages, rather than for programs. Assuming that, try the following. (It certainly works in Firefox and probably in most other browsers too):
Go to the page you require a shortcut to. Reduce the size of the window, so that it no longer fills the whole of your screen. (i.e. click on the overlapping squares, next to the 'x' at the top right hand corner of your screen). Click on the small icon immediately to the left of 'www' in your address bar and drag it onto your desktop. Job done!
