I need information and advice, please.
I have BT broadband and TV but am fed up with them.
What 'kit' if any would I need to change to Virgin or Sky?
I do not have a satellite disc nor is there cable installed to my house, I only have a phone line.
Would it be easy for me to switch?
Do you have any recommendations?
I will want internet, TV and telephone.
Thanks.

We're with BT and the phone and internet are fine. We're in the middle of nowhere and received good bandwidth and (touch wood) no interruptions. We have limitless broadband package.

We have a Humax recorder box which is hooked up to the TV and the internet and we can watch programmes from up to a week ago on all Freeview channels. No subscriptions needed, easy to install and easy to use. That's enough for us,
but if you need the extra channels such as sport or other payto views then that might not be enough.

The Humax box cost us about £185 bought in the spring.
We number-crunched recently - we had phone with BT, Sky TV and Virgin broadband which we'd had since NTL provided it.
BT charges seemed very high and customer service totally rubbish.
Sky was OK but they seem to constantly have new packages to upgrade to meaning your viewing qulaity or choce of channels always slightly disappoints (for us, anyway)
So we went with one of the bigger Virgin bundles for phone, TV and broadband, which means we are paying less on a monthly basis.
Good phone service, excellent broadband. We slightly miss some Sky channels eg we won't get next season of Game of Thrones, or Baby TV for the littlun, or Homes Under The Hammer......but im indoors has all the sport he can handle.
Virgin customer care is Ok to indifferent, but at least phoning them is free under the package.
My broadband speed is 150Mbps (soon to be increased for free) so it's very fast and reliable. I am having no problems with emails.
I find their customer service to be excellent - when my Tivo developed problems it was fixed the next day, no charge as Virgin owns all the equipment.
Record three programmes at once on the Tivo (it does occasionally happen!), catch up and on demand depending on your package. I've been with Virgin since 2006, when they merged with Telewest.

I'm obviously satisfied with them.

Appreciate all the advice, folks.
Thanks for all your answers.
Good to know that I am not the only one who finds BT hard to deal with.
