boot disk failure?

Im not sure if my p.c. needs condemning but on start up and sometimes when running it makes clicking noises,now today it came up boot disk failure and it took me ages to get it to boot.I have looked at other questions that have been submitted but none mentioned a clicking noise.Is my hard disk faulty?any ideas.thanks.
