How Unsafe Is It There ?
23 Answers
Syria that is ......the guy who sadly lost his family and seemed to have no problems in going back to Syria for the funeral, which judging by all the pics i saw yesterday was a "mass media event".
Doesnt seem that unsafe where that all took place, he had no trouble getting back there, so whats going on here...
why cant the "international community" get together and set up safe buffer zones there in Syria protected by a military presence ?...

The once thriving city of Aleppo now doesn't have single usable building for example, so it's no use to anyone including the so-called IS who may well end up as conqueror's of a land of nothing, Islamic militants have been doing this kind of destruction for centuries with modern weaponry making their task so much easier.

and yet the mobile phone, 3g and internet service seems to carry on working - how can that be? is there a multinational comms company prepared to unprinciple itself to do business with ISIS? or are ISIS running and maintaining it it themselves? how, and using resources from which unprincipled hardware company?

Strange indeed.
His sister in Canada said in an interview that she sent him money, as he and his family have been living and working in Turkey for the past 3 years.
He told her he wanted to go to the UK, as he had no teeth, and he could have new ones for free there!
Very odd story.

They certainly are going to put a strain on the health services in the countries they end up in. I have seen photos of people in wheelchairs, that one who was interviewed with a neckbrace who said he had a chronic health problem and so on. What are they going to do with them when they reach Austria and Germany ? Let them loose ? Or have they got refugee camps ready ?
My daughter was angry with me last night for my opinion that this man should be prosecuted for homicide! He is responsible for the deaths of his family, no one else. Interestingly, every one I have spoken to today has shared my view. He now intends to stay in Syria, can't be that bad for him. Am I being cynical in thinking he may just want to exploit the situation to his benefit? (media frenzy etc. could be profitable) I may be, of course, and he probably really is devastated about losing his sons through his own cupidity and stupidity.

An individual will survive in a different way to a parent wanting to care for and achieve the best for their family. In Islam like in many Abrahamic faiths great emphasis is placed on being buried in the ancestral homeland if possible. This bloke strikes me as being totally stuffed and at the end of it, having lost all he existed for. So he's gone home, probably to die in the not to distant future. Will that make you happier? Which bit of this story makes you happier? Cos none of it makes me happy, or puzzled, or resentlful.
